Common questions
Answered plainly.
Does CarbonTrack produce a document I can submit for PPN 06/21?
Yes. The Compliance Pro tier generates a Carbon Reduction Plan formatted to the UK Cabinet Office CRP template. It includes your tCO₂e baseline, scope breakdown, Net Zero commitment, DEFRA methodology statement, Director signature block, and a formula trail appendix. It also generates a public URL you can reference in your tender submission.
Is the output accepted by SECR auditors?
CarbonTrack uses DEFRA 2025 GHG Conversion Factors and GHG Protocol Scope 3 methodology. Every calculation shows the exact formula, distance methodology, and factor source. This is the level of transparency external auditors require to verify without reconstruction.
What happens if DEFRA publishes new factors?
CarbonTrack factors are updated when DEFRA publishes the annual update. Historical entries retain the factor current at the time of entry — which is correct practice. New entries automatically use the current year's factors.
Can we upload our existing spreadsheet data?
CSV bulk upload is on the roadmap for Q3 2026. For companies with large historical datasets contact us directly — we can process existing data as part of onboarding at no extra charge.
What does the public verification URL contain?
A public-facing page at usecarbontrack.co.uk/public/your-company showing your company name, reporting year, total tCO₂e, Net Zero commitment date, and report generation timestamp. This satisfies the PPN 06/21 requirement that the Carbon Reduction Plan remains accessible at a public URL.
Who is CarbonTrack built for?
UK manufacturers and contractors with 250–500 employees who are legally required to report under SECR and need a defensible Carbon Reduction Plan for PPN 06/21 tender submissions. Typically one person in finance, operations, or compliance is handling the reporting without a dedicated sustainability team.
